John Zorn was born in Houston, and as a child played piano, guitar and flute.
Just after releasing albums on several independent and Asian labels, Allen signed with the Elektra-Nonesuch label and attracted wide acclaim in 1986 with our interpretations of cinema composed by Coltrane, the album [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] in 1990 and the first album by Naked City in 2000.
Early minor compositions included a lot of "game pieces", in which performers are not allowed to improvise while following certain structural rules.
